What We Do

We seek to address the shortage of qualified healthcare professionals in rural hospitals so that they may improve the delivery of healthcare within those same communities.

Hospitals within rural districts struggle to retain healthcare professionals, which compromises the quality of service they are able to provide.

The Umthombo Youth Development Foundation is one of the few long-term solutions to the challenge of recruiting and retaining quality healthcare professionals for South Africa’s rural communities.

The UYDF has produced 385 graduates and is currently supporting 236 students studying a wide range of health science disciplines.

Comprehensive financial support is provided to all students.
